LEAP Workshop in Oslo: A Free Skills Platform for Adult Immigrants
FURIM Institute completed the LEAP workshop in Oslo on 13 August 2026, together with NAV Vestre Aker. Around 30 people took part.
The workshop had one practical purpose. LEAP has spent a year being built, translated and tested across four countries, and this session was about taking it out of the project documents and putting it in front of the people it was made for.
What LEAP is
LEAP is an Erasmus+ small-scale partnership in adult education (KA210-ADU). It runs from September 2025 to August 2026 and brings together four organisations in four countries:

The project starts from a problem all four countries recognise. Adults who move to a new country usually arrive with real working experience, but they cannot always show it in a form the local labour market reads. Formal qualifications are missing, or they are not recognised, and the skills that do transfer, communication, teamwork, digital literacy, problem solving, stay invisible on paper.
LEAP answers this with two connected tools, both free to use:
A 21st century skills self-assessment. It takes 20 to 40 minutes and produces a personal report showing where you are already strong and where there is room to grow.
Tailor-made e-learning modules. Based on the assessment result, the platform points you to short interactive modules covering communication, digital skills, social skills and problem solving. Completing them gives you a certificate.
The platform is available in Norwegian, English, Dutch, Polish and Estonian.
What we did in the workshop
The session was built as a walkthrough rather than a lecture, so that everyone in the room left knowing how to use the platform on their own.
1. The project and why it exists. We opened with what LEAP is, who built it and what it is trying to solve: the gap between the skills adult immigrants already have and the proof the labour market asks for.
2. The assessment tool, step by step. We went through what the self-assessment actually asks, how long it takes, and how to read the report it produces. The point we kept coming back to is that this is not an exam. Nobody passes or fails it, and no employer sees the result. It is a map of where you stand.
3. The learning modules. We showed how the platform turns an assessment result into a short list of modules worth doing first, so nobody has to guess where to start or work through material they do not need.
4. Registration and first login. Participants saw how to create an account at leap.edu4.eu, switch the interface to Norwegian, and start the assessment.
5. Questions and discussion. The last part of the session belonged to the room: what the platform does and does not cover, how the certificate can be used, and how advisers and case workers can point people to it.
What you need to know
It is free. There is no cost, no subscription and no hidden step.
You need to register. Access goes through the project portal at leap.edu4.eu.
It is available in five languages, including Norwegian and English.
The assessment takes 20 to 40 minutes and gives you a personal report.
You can work at your own pace. The modules are online and self-paced, so you do not have to be in a classroom at a set time.
You get a certificate when you complete a module.
It is not going away. The partners have committed to keeping the platform open to new users for at least five years after the project ends.
Who it is for
LEAP is built for adults from 18 years upwards who want a stronger position in working life, in particular immigrants with limited formal education. It is equally useful for the people who support them: career advisers, NAV case workers, adult education centres, employment services and volunteer organisations, who can use the assessment as a starting point for a conversation instead of a form.
Across the four partner countries, the project aims to reach at least 120 adult learners directly, 30 in each country. The Oslo workshop covered the Norwegian share of that target.

Go to https://leap.edu4.eu/, create an account, choose your language and start with the assessment. It works on a phone as well as a computer.

What happens next
The project runs until the end of August 2026. FURIM will keep using the LEAP modules in its work on intercultural understanding, workplace adaptation and active citizenship, and the platform stays open after the project period. Follow FURIM Institute for the next sessions.
