Project Overview
LearnConnect 360 aims to empower immigrants and refugees in Oslo through the acquisition of Norwegian language skills and digital literacy, essential for effective integration and participation in Norwegian society and the workforce.
LearnConnect 360, initiated by the FURIM Institute and supported by the Oslo Municipality (Oslo Kommune), is designed to promote work participation among immigrants, especially female refugees, and support their integration processes.
In a society where digitalization is rapid and ongoing, the relevance of being proficient in both the local language and digital tools cannot be understated. For many immigrants, especially women from refugee backgrounds, these skills are crucial stepping stones towards education, employment, and active societal participation.
The project utilizes a combination of modern e-learning platforms, self-assessment tools, and access to digital databases, tailored to the learning preferences and needs of the participants. By enabling learning in a flexible, self-paced manner, LearnConnect 360 addresses the challenges faced by individuals who may be unable to attend traditional classroom sessions due to various barriers such as work schedules, family commitments, or personal constraints.
Objectives:
To enhance Norwegian language proficiency among immigrants to foster smoother integration.
To improve digital literacy for better accessibility to educational and employment opportunities in a digitalized society.
To facilitate the personal and professional development of participants through tailored educational materials and tools.
Specific Objectives:
To provide flexible learning solutions for immigrants, enhancing their ability to integrate effectively into the Norwegian society.
To develop and disseminate digital education modules that can be accessed from any location, at any time.
To engage at least 80 participants in the first year, focusing on holistic skill development and societal integration.
Target Group: The primary target group includes adult immigrants, particularly focusing on refugee women residing in diverse neighborhoods of Oslo, with special attention to those in the Sagene district. The project aims to meet the needs of this vulnerable group through language adaptation, cultural sensitivity, and access to specially designed resources.
Project Results:
Development and launch of an online platform featuring Norwegian language courses, digital literacy training, and self-assessment tools.
A series of interactive workshops and seminars to provide hands-on experience with the tools and resources available.
Creation of a support network through mentoring and guidance to assist participants in achieving their integration and educational goals.
Partnerships and Collaborations: Collaborations with local educational institutions, community centers, and social services like NAV to recruit and support participants effectively. These partnerships ensure a robust support system and facilitate the successful implementation of the project.
