Project Overview
Project Overview
Mentorized aims to empower adult immigrants and refugees in Oslo through personalized mentorship focused on job-seeking, digital literacy, and understanding of the Norwegian work culture. Initiated by the FURIM Institute and developed based on experiences from LearnConnect 360 and HEIDI, the project offers one-on-one support to help participants take their next steps into work or education.
The project responds to the reality that many immigrants – especially women and young adults – face barriers related to language, networks, and unfamiliarity with the Norwegian system. By providing flexible, human-centered guidance, Mentorized strengthens inclusion, participation, and independence.
Objectives
- Increase participants' readiness for employment and education through tailored mentoring
- Build skills in digital tools (e.g. MinID, email, NAV portals) and job search techniques
- Facilitate integration into Norwegian work and civic life
- Create a supportive community of mentors and mentees
Activities
- Mentor Recruitment & Training: 20–25 volunteer mentors are selected and trained in intercultural mentoring, career guidance, and digital support tools.
- Participant Intake & Matching: Participants complete a form and are matched with mentors based on their background and goals.
- Weekly Mentoring Sessions: Each mentor supports 4–5 mentees through regular 30-minute sessions (in-person or online).
- Monthly Workshops: Topics include CV & job applications, digital tools, Norwegian work culture, and public services.
- Field Visits: Organized visits to adult education centers, NAV offices, or relevant workplaces.
- Final Evaluation & Report: Participant outcomes and project impact will be documented and shared.
Target Group
The project primarily targets adult immigrants in Oslo, with a particular focus on women and young adults from refugee backgrounds. Participants are often from areas such as Sagene, Vestre/Nordre Aker, and Grunerløkka.
