Project Overview

Strengthening Disadvantaged Women’s Health And Resilience Via Culturally Adapted Physical Activity Toolkit
Empowering sedentary women from low income, migrant or refugee backgrounds to adopt and sustain active lifestyles through culturally adapted physical literacy resources, inclusive community engagement and a continuous support structure.
Background
EU Work Plan for Sport (2024-2027) This plan calls for initiatives to make sport more attractive, accessible and inclusive for all citizens, with a specific focus on underrepresented groups. It highlights the urgent need to address gender, social and economic differences in physical activity participation, aligning with VITALITY's mission.
Eurobarometer on Sport and Physical Activity (2022) Only 38% of women in the EU engage in regular exercise compared to 46% of men, showing significant differences between rural, low-income and migratory groups. Socioeconomic challenges, cultural stigmas and restricted access to inclusive resources all contribute to these differences.
Bridging the Gap: VITALITY´S Approach
• Culturally adapted resources: Multilingual, visually guided toolkit incorporating traditional dances and low cost exercises.
• Peer support Groups: WhatsApp groups and moderated forums fostering motivation, accountability and long term participation.
• Digital and Hybrid learning: Short video tutorials, audio guides and printable PDFS ensuring flexible, self pace engagement.
